I began my formal psychotherapy training in 1986 at The Centre for Training in Psychotherapy (CTP), after I had already completed a significant amount of my own personal individual and group psychotherapy. I began working with clients under supervision in 1991, and received my diploma from CTP in 1996. I continue to take Graduate Seminars on such topics as Hans Loewald, a psychoanalyst who is steeped in the existential philosophy of Martin Heidegger. This year I will be in a Heidegger seminar.
I also trained in Emotionally Focussed Couple Therapy for two years (EFT) and added work with couples to my practice.
In 2005 with a co-leader I began an ongoing therapy group for our own clients and those of other therapists. We welcome new members each September.
I began my working life in the theatre, in the mid 1970s. I had had a passion for acting, dance, music and authentic expression since I was very young. During that time I became more and more drawn to the fundamental task of alleviating my own and others' suffering, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. I became a massage therapist in 1976. I then spent a year at the Findhorn Foundation, a spiritual community in Scotland.
In addition to my private practice at St George St, I work at the Artists' Health Centre, a multi-disciplinary clinic at the Toronto Western Hospital.
